How long does a gas safety certificate last?

The simple answer is: a gas safety certificate lasts for twelve months.

If you’re the landlord of a property that uses gas for either the central heating system or for cooking, then it’s up to you to make sure you have this certificate.

If you don’t own the property (i.e. you are renting) then it is the responsibility of your landlord to provide a gas safety certificate, and install a carbon monoxide alarm.

All manufacturers recommend that your gas appliance should be service every 12 months even if you own your home to make sure everything is safe.
