Roots can be removed using standard high-pressure water
Roots can be removed using standard high-pressure water jetting units but in order to restore the full bore of a system, specialist jetting heads and attachments are required. Flail jets have chains at the rear, which spin around, chopping at the roots as they go, and there are attachments that have forward facing cutting heads that rotate with the pressure of water being pumped through them. There are also specialist high pressure water jetting cutting rigs that are so powerful they will cut out concrete, masonry and intruding pipe work from a system. The same bit of kit can be used for root cutting in pipe work from 150mm in diameter and above, they are particularly handy for cutting through stubborn tap roots.

Operations Manager
Experience: Graeme spent 3 years as a couch builder before joining Dyno-Rod. He has been working with Dyno-Rod for more than 26 years now, operating in various roles across the business. He now finds himself working in dispatch and operations.
Best thing about working for Dyno-Rod North East: I love working for Dyno-Rod North East as it's a family run business. The company has been tremendously helpful and understanding during my time in raising a family, allowing me unscheduled time off at short notice when family emergencies have arisen.
Favourite work story:When working as an engineer I was called to an elderly lady's home in Newcastle to try and locate her wedding ring that she believed fell down her sink. She had been married for 54 years and lost her husband the prvious year, so the ring was of great sentimental value to her. I dismantled the pipe work, and even used the CCTV footage to check the drains. I found nothing. i had to conclude the ring was not there. After speaking to my manager we agreed the time spent would not be charged to the customer. As I was leaving through the back door, something caught my eye in the green plastic watering can hanging on the outside tap, it was the missing ring. The customer was overwhelmed and couldn't thank me enough. She then explained that she watered the plants in the morning before washing her dishes and was convinced she had lost it inside.
