Our top priority is you

You and your family's safety is our priority, so we always tackle any health risks caused by the blockage before fixing the problem. We have a range of products that’ll do the job, like the Watertight Non-return Valve, which we can fit to the manhole on your property in minutes. Particularly helpful in flood-prone areas, this small plastic valve can stop rising water, bad smells, sewage or even rodents from coming back up the pipes into your home.

Big smiles all round for the team at Dyno Wessex

Here’s a weird and wonderful story that should definitely bring a smile to your face. As you can imagine, at Dyno phone calls normally range from blocked drains to installing water supply pipes, so when we heard about this unusual story our teams’ heads really did turn. Cue 85 year-old Audrey from Poole.

The previous night she’d been polishing her false teeth before she went to bed, when suddenly they fell straight down the toilet. So on Friday Jamie from her local team at Dyno Wessex stepped up to the challenge. Armed with nifty CCTV technology and a whole load of determination, Jamie set to work to find them. After lowering the camera into the drain Jamie quickly spotted Audrey’s dentures, just in the nick of time. Had they travelled any further down the pipe they’d have ended up at Poole Sewage Treatment Works! So there you have it, whether it’s a blocked drain or missing teeth our CCTV drain survey can come in really handy.

"Audrey was absolutely amazed when I showed her on screen that we had located the teeth - she thought they were gone forever” said Jamie. When we actually recovered them from the drain, she was jumping for joy - something you don't see an 85-year-old lady do too often. It was great to be able to reunite Audrey with her teeth, obviously advising her to take them to be sterilised first".

For Audrey, these teeth are a vital part of her day-to-day, needing them to be able to eat and speak – things we might easily take for granted. After retrieving them, she thanked Jamie and made arrangements to head to the dentist.

Unfortunately, a few days after Audrey’s teeth had been recovered, she fell and broke her kneecap. This meant poor Audrey was unable to go on a holiday she had planned. However Jamie from Dyno made sure to pay her a special visit to see how she was getting on, along with a lovely bunch of flowers. We’re happy to hear she’s making a good recovery…and still smiling!

About us

Get to know us a little better.

JAF Services Ltd was established by husband and wife team, Jo and Andy Findlay in 2001. They only had two engineers and two second-hand vehicles when they started, covering Southampton West and Salisbury, the successful expansion year after year, meant the service soon stretched from Southampton to Lyme Regis and the Isle of Wight.

From blocked drains in Dorset and Somerset to drainage issues in Avon, Bath and Swindon JAF have seen it all. At JAF, we now have a fleet of 45 vehicles and a work force of 60-strong trained emplyees to service all our domestic and commercial customers. From the smallest flats, to large clients such as airports, hospitals and dockyards no problem is too big or small.

We believe our success is down to the fact that we’re a family business, which means that every single job carried out is important to us. Despite our expansion, the focus on personal service remains at the heart of everything we do.

The joy of our business is that every day is different, and so is every job! From basic blocked drains in Bristol and Bath to major projects, such as the cleaning the Itchen Bridge in Southampton, which hadn’t been cleaned for over 20 years! We required unusual and specialist equipment to complete the job, with bags of enthusiasm and a smile on our face.

We’re extremely proud to have very loyal customers. Our personal touch extends to telling the customer, the name of the engineer they are expecting, as well as giving the engineer as many details as possible so they understand the problem before they arrive. We expect our engineers to always give the best advice and they are responsible for each job until it is finished.

We try and go that extra mile, which is why we have also introduced a password scheme to assist our vulnerable customers. We also undertake a CRB check on all our engineers prior to employment so all our customers feel safe in their homes.  And of course, once the job is over we conduct customer care calls to make sure it has been done to their satisfaction. We have also achieved various environmental accreditations so our customers are in safe hands

We’re proud of the transparency of our pricing and that our customers know what they are paying in advance. All our vehicles have a satellite tracking system as another safeguard regarding timing and therefore cost of jobs.

We call every customer after the completion of every job to ensure that the problem has been resolved and that the service they received was excellent.  Our customer service level is measured by Net Promoter Scores (NPS).  If the customer scores any lower than a 9 then it goes against us and our scores reduce.  Therefore we are delighted that our scores are consistently at the high end of the scale.  We always pass on thanks and complimentary comments to the engineers as it is important to pass on the good as well as the bad.

JAF’s credentials as a real family business, is reflected in our name, a combination of our initials (Jo and Andy Findlay). When setting up the company, the two of us, including our three children and a dog, moved from Tunbridge Wells down to the South Coast to be closer to our customer base. Now our eldest son, David, has clocked up seven years with the firm, working his way up to become Operations Director. With Jo’s brother, Simon, and nephew James and also involved in the business; family values remain at the heart of the company.

As a company we support the charitable efforts of our employees and recently we all donned our football shirts to work, to raise money and awareness of bowel cancer for the Bobby Moore Fund.

We strongly believe in giving more back to the community, and we have previously sponsored local football teams, so we would love to hear from any local clubs or charities. Please email Simon@dynowesex.com to let us know how we can get involved.
