Roger Littles has been a family-run business since it was formed in 1966 as one of the pioneering DYNO businesses. Managing Director, Phil Savage, whose father-in-law, Roger Little, founded the business on his own, is proud that the company has been servicing the North West area for over forty years.

From our start as a ‘one man in a van’ enterprise, we’ve expanded to accommodate 55 members of staff. This includes highly qualified plumbers and drainage engineers, along with our expert administration staff who run the office.

Approximately 60% of our business is focused on servicing commercial clients, like Bentley and McVities. The other 40% provides plumbing services to domestic homes. Our drainage business covers two business areas: the reactive business, where we can help with problems and emergencies; and the specialist camera teams business, who investigate and produce reports for preventative and maintenance work. Our drainage solutions are extremely innovative, and we working with the best companies and manufacturers to provide cutting-edge solutions.

On the domestic side, we provide the same consistent, high-quality service across the country, whether we’re providing plumbers in Manchester or in Oldham.

We’re pleased to say we’ve built up a great local reputation, and we’re regarded as experts by British Gas, particularly when it comes to drain-lining techniques. But we’re also proud to share Dyno’s fantastic national reputation.

We try to take on our staff through personal recommendations, which is why we have a huge number of long-term staff. We’re lucky enough to have one of the longest serving Dyno engineers on our staff. Tanker-driver, John Swift, known locally as Swifty, has been working with Dyno for 45 years. Companies often ask for him by name because he’s so well-known for his expertise.

Our long history has seen us do some weird and wonderful jobs, including rescuing meercats who’d escapred down from the zoo and down the drains! The project involved sending down specialist drain cameras to work out where they were. The bright light on the camera made the meerkats head to the surface pretty swiftly: simples! Other things we’ve rescued over the years include wedding rings and a huge number of house and car keys.

We’ve had a number of sons follow their fathers and fathers-in-law into the business. Although we’ve grown a huge amount over the last five decades, we remain very much a family business. Phil’s son, James, manages the accounts department, and his daughter Claire works on the sales. Phil’s wife Susan is also very hands-on with the company. After all these years you might be surprised at how satisfying we still find it to unblock a drain can be and see a happy customer!

Us in the Community:

As a long-established company in the North West, we’ve built up great community relationships over the past 45 years. Our employee age range is very broad, from 18 to 60, and we all get on and treat each other like family, especially because we have several employees with decades of service. Our plumbers and engineers all live in the areas they cover, and we take an active interest in community projects that are close to all our hearts.

We currently sponsor the shirts of the Manchester City Ladies’ Football Club. Our Managing Director, Phil Savage, has also completed the London Marathon on each of his landmark birthdays: 30th, 40th and 50th, all to raise money for charity.

Our charity of the moment is The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. We’ve focused our fundraising on the oncology unit, which takes care of young children with cancer. The work they do is incredible and we try to support them in every way we can. We always visit at Easter with Easter Eggs for the kids, and hand out Christmas presents on the wards, which is both rewarding and humbling.

We also try to do our bit for the environment. We currently have a scrap skip at work where we put our leftovers from jobs, which we then sell off and give the proceeds to charity.
