When you need to claim on insurance,
Call us and we’ll take care of it for you

Helping you make your claim

When you’re coping with a drainage problem the last thing you want is more stress. That’s why we’re happy to take on any insurance claims relating to drainage repairs we’ve carried out as well as doing the repairs themselves. We can offer you completely impartial advice on what repairs are required and whether they’re likely to be covered by your buildings insurance. Along with our insurance experts, Claims Handling (UK) LTD, we can then provide a report to your insurer with all the details necessary for them to okay the repairs as soon as possible. You won’t have the hassle of filling out any claims forms and, best of all, the service is free.

Why you can trust us with your claim:

  • Long experience - around since 1963
  • All advice is impartial
  • Managed claim support service
  • Service is free, including legal fees incurred whilst we are managing the claim on your behalf

The process explained

Get on the fast track

We already have agreements set up with a number of insurers so that claims we put in get priority treatment. This means your claim could go through in as little as two days. If we don’t have an agreement with your particular insurer, the process can take longer, perhaps a few weeks. In all cases we will try to get authorisation from your insurer as fast as possible so we can complete the work quickly. We will not carry out any work without the approval of your insurer.

How it works

You sign a letter of authority authorising us to undertake the necessary work on your drains and give us your building insurance details. We take care of the rest, submitting your claim, making any negotiations and carrying out the repairs once we’re given the go-ahead. We’ll carry out a CCTV inspection of your drains so that we can prepare a detailed report of the damage and the necessary repairs, which is submitted to your insurer. Once the claim is accepted, the CCTV inspection will be paid for as part of it. If the claim is not accepted or we find no damage, there will be no charge. Should you decide to use another drainage company to carry out the repair we will ask for you to pay for the CCTV inspection, though you can still submit the invoice to your insurers to be paid as part of your claim. You will only have to pay the policy excess.

What if the claim is turned down?

Most drainage problems will be covered by your buildings insurance. However, certain types of damage may be excluded. If all or parts of your claim are turned down, we will use our years of experience to negotiate on your behalf, including the use of solicitors if required, to see whether a compromise can be reached. If this is the case, we can even spread the payments for you. It is up to your insurer to decide what is and is not covered by your policy and up to you whether you decide to pay for the repair privately.

Shared drains

If your drains are shared with one or more other properties, then the liability for any repairs are shared between the property owners. This is only true if the properties were built after 1937. In this case we use Protocol, insurance experts who specialise in this area, rather than Claims Handling (UK) LTD. We will get in touch with all owners concerned so that they can either authorise us to contact their insurers on their behalf or make contact themselves. Only when we’ve received the go-ahead from all parties and their insurers can we make any repairs. In some instances we even arrange for local resident meetings to make sure everyone is kept informed of progress.

Local round-the-clock service

We have over 500 vehicles available throughout the UK, so you can be certain one of our engineers will be with you within four hours of your call. And that’s true 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Once you have authorised us to act on your behalf, we will provide you with free unblocks should you need them until such time as we complete the work. If the repair is completed by another company, we will require payment for these as you should claim through your insurance for this.

Professional and trustworthy

All of our work is guaranteed and carried out by our fully trained engineers. So you can feel safe in the knowledge that they won’t just do the job well, they’ll treat you and your home with respect too.
