Drain clearing and unblocking using high pressure water jetting -
Fully guaranteed service across the UK

What we do

What is drain jetting?

Drain jetting uses a piece of kit called a High Pressure Water Jetter. This is used to unblock or clean a surface or foul water drain run. The jetter, which is an extremely powerful piece of equipment, is sent down the drain pipe towards the blockage or obstruction. It is often much more successful than conventional drain rods because it can negotiate bends and travel much further down the pipe.

Details of when it might be used

It can be used to unblock all types of drains both in the domestic and commercial markets. Large and small bore pipes can be cleaned and descaled as part of a preventative maintenance programme which may help eliminate those unplanned, disruptive emergency call outs. Maintenance of drains is very important but often neglected often because drains are not usually visible and are forgotten. You wash and clean your car to keep it 'working', so why not your drainage system?

Benefits of drain jetting compared to other methods

Jetting is undoubtedly more successful at unblocking drains than any other method, which will ultimately save time and of course money. Once the jetter head meets the blockage it often instantly obliterates it, unlike the traditional method of using rods which often simply push the blockage further along the pipe where they remain to cause future service problems. Jetting drains not only clears blockages but also cleans and de-greases the entire pipe, owing to the 12 gallons of water a minute delivered by the rear-facing jets. This means there is far less likelihood of repeat problems in the future.

How we do it

The tools used in drain jetting

The jetter is a water pump, powered by a conventional engine. The water is delivered along a re-enforced hose to a jetter head or nozzle. This jetter head has small rear facing holes which allows the hose to be propelled inside the pipe to the required area. Small holes on the side allow high pressure water to be delivered to the interior sides of the pipe, cleaning it as it travels. Different nozzles are available which can be changed so that different sizes of pipes can be serviced and different problems can be resolved.

How it is performed and by who

Health and safety is at the forefront of our company ethos and as such all Dyno engineers are highly trained operatives and attend industry accredited training courses. Different jobs will require a different method.

The main causes of a blocked drain are:

  • Negligence
  • Foreign objected discarded into the system (Domestic & commercial)
  • Fats, oils, and grease (FOGs)
  • Lack of regular maintenance

If you experience a blockage, you may want to check the drainage system by way of a CCTV survey. This would confirm one way or another if there are any underlying serious problems causing the blockage.

However, it is our opinion that if we all paid more attention to what we put into the drainage systems, such as kitchen roll and FOGs (fats and grease), this would help reduce on-going disruptive problems.

The best way to ensure you do not experience the unpleasantness of a blocked drain and the disruption to your home or business is to carry out preventative maintenance.
