  • Available any time - 24 hours, 365 days a year
  • Fixed price - no hidden costs - no call out fee
  • Detailed report provided with plan of drain layout
  • Here since 1963 - all work guaranteed

What is CCTV drains inspection?

We insert a closed circuit television camera, or CCTV, into drainage pipes to take a thorough look at the system and spot any issues that may already be causing problems or are likely to in the future. If we do find problems this may help you decide whether or not to buy the property. As we provide an estimate of what it will cost to put the problems right, a CCTV drains inspection can also be a useful tool when negotiating terms.

CCTV inspection step-by-step

We can carry out a thorough CCTV drains inspection without causing undue hassle for the current occupant or landlord. It’s done in three steps:

Step 1 - Getting into the drain

We’ll find an access point, from where the CCTV camera will be pushed along the pipe. In larger pipes the camera might be mounted on a wheeled crawler unit.

Step 2 - Taking a look

Our engineer will see images from the camera as it moves along the pipe on a monitor screen. They will then log anything they see - blockages or structural defects - and their location in the pipe.

Step 3 - Making our report

We give you a report of what we’ve found, listing problems and their location. This may come complete with photos and video footage if necessary, and a plan of the drain system.

What CCTV can reveal

To find out what we can discover without digging up a thing, click on the titles below

Fractured pipes

pressure from above, such as a heavy vehicle driving over the ground, can cause cracks and fractures in drainage pipes. Untreated, these will leak contents into the soil, which could result in further damage to the pipe or even subsidence.

Collapsed drains

can be caused by the drains being badly built in the first place or a variety of other reasons. If left, not only are blockages likely, but subsidence and environmental damage are possible.

Tree roots

roots seek out moisture and so can find their way into drains. Not only are they likely to damage the drain but other material will get caught in them making blockages far more likely and frequent.
