CCTV inspection

If the cause of a blockage isn’t immediately obvious, we can take a closer look with our CCTV equipment. We also offer CCTV surveys which can spot issues before they turn into major problems.

The Causes

Ninety percent of the time it’s just the build-up of what’s gone into the drain that blocks them. This is all part of the normal wear and tear. If you run a catering business then it’s likely to be a build up of grease and oil along with food scraps that have caused a blockage. On other occasions the cause may be items flushed down the toilet which are the problem. Finally, it might simply be a structural defect or breakage caused by tree roots, corrosion or subsidence.

Preventing problems

Grease traps - if you run a catering establishment then, as mentioned above, grease flowing into your drains could cause you problems. To avoid blockages and all the problems that come with them, we recommend installing grease traps. The trap sits between sinks in your kitchen and the main sewer, intercepting what we call FOGs - fats, oils and grease - before they reach the wastewater system. They can be installed above ground - in the kitchen or outside the building - or underground as a built-in part of your drainage system. Contact us for more details

Bioflo - this is an ongoing maintenance system that will keep your drainage system free-flowing and almost eliminates the need for cleaning grease traps. It’s a carefully formulated blend of liquid bacterial cultures, introduced by an automatic wall-mounted pump, that breaks down the thickness of fat within a grease trap. It works far more effectively than detergents, is safe, natural and environmentally friendly. We’ll install and manage the system. Contact us to find out more.

How we do it

We fit the tools to the task. Drain rodding might be all that’s required, but if the situation merits it, our engineers will have the right, specialised equipment on hand.

Drain rodding

Steel or polypropylene rods are pushed along the pipe to remove blockages by force and restore free flow along the drain.

High pressure water jetting

With a pressure of up to 4000psi, our water jets are pretty formidable when introduced into a pipe via hose. They’ll strip hard scale from pipe walls and will break down substances such as concrete, resin, oil and grease, even tree roots. They can also be used to strip away grease in production areas, clear storage tanks and have even been used to clean the bottom of ships’ hulls.

Tanker jetting

when the job involves larger sewers and culverts, we bring in a tanker. With a flow of over 50 gallons a minute they will remove large volumes of silt and debris easily, even when there is no readily available mains water supply.

Electro-mechanical cleaning

Cutters and blades fitted to rotating flexible steel cables are introduced to pipes to physically cut away debris including tree roots and hardened deposits.
