How we started
Dyno-Rod has been around since 1963. We pioneered the use of a new electro mechanical technique in the UK, where it gained popularity as a convenient way of unblocking drains.
Before long we became market leader. When people think drains they think Dyno-Rod®. We operate as a franchise business offering national coverage from highly trained local engineers, all proud to sign up to our values and high standards.
Expanding into plumbing and security services – during the 1980s and 1990s
Since 1963 we have developed our drainage business and we now operate a mix of franchisee and
own labour.
During the 1980’s we moved into the home and property security business starting our locks & alarms business which is now branded Dyno Lock & Alarms. More recently we have extended our security portfolio to offering boarding up and glazing services for homes and business premises under the Dyno-Glazing brand.
During the 1990’s we expanded into more general plumbing services. Today Dyno-Rod Plumbing & Drains is becoming as well know for plumbing as we’ve always been drainage!
Size & scale – supporting the UK's main businesses
- We have developed tailored support services for large commercial organisations.
- We now have a dedicated accounts team supporting 250 national accounts.
- We also work with major insurance companies and help access insurance claims.
- During 1996 we also introduced a dedicated operational team to support utilities and major
industrial sites.
Part of British Gas and Scottish Gas
Our business became part of the Centrica group in 2004, and is now part of British Gas and Scottish Gas. With the backing of one of the UK's most influential companies we are confident that we can continue to grow while supporting our local communities and businesses.
Our future
Although we are proud of our past, we’re still working hard to improve our products and services. We’ll continue to remain at the forefront of our chosen markets – plumbing, drains, locks, alarms and glazing. You can depend on us.
